How can we help?
Addiction in Adolescents
A One-Day Clinical Workshop
Not every addiction leaves a visible mark.
Many adolescents today are struggling silently with substance misuse, gaming, gambling, pornography, social media dependency, and compulsive online behaviours, often alongside anxiety, trauma, shame, emotional dysregulation, and disconnection.
Yet many professionals feel underprepared for the reality of what is presenting in the room.
This workshop will explore addiction in adolescents through a deeper, trauma-informed, and clinically grounded lens.
Topics covered include:
- Theories behind addiction
- Defining addiction
- Tolerance and withdrawal
- The adolescent brain and addictive behaviors
- Common substance misuse in Ireland among adolescents
- Gambling and gaming addiction
- Pornography and compulsive online behaviors
- Trauma, attachment, and emotional regulation
- Treatment modalities and therapeutic approaches
- Videos, case studies, and group discussion throughout the day
This is not surface-level learning.
It is practical, reflective, clinically informed training for professionals supporting adolescents in today’s world
